While this was being completed I decided that as I had pushed the boat out on a respray then new wheels were needed to finish off the exterior. I originally had a budget in mind and found several designs in my budget but it was hard to decide what would go well with the red paint without actually seeing the car first. These were the choices I had that were within my budget and would fit the car properly.

Hell of a choice of wheels there for Soul Red!

I could make a case for all of them.

You are a legend, I am in awe at how you managed to get the MOT place to agree to repair your car; fair play to you!

The new colour is incredible, cannot wait to see if finished. Wheels are very personal, and all of those wheels look great. But I think No. 5 is my favourite. Might change my mind when I see the finished car though!

Thank you. It was a situation were I genuinely believed it was the right thing for them to do because I ended up spending about £800 based on their first MOT so if they didn’t pay for the rest of the work I was essentially going to lose all that money. It worked out great in the end as if I knew the extent of the corrosion and issues on that first MOT I would never have continued with the project so the MOT test station’s cash injection is the only reason the car is still on the road.

So I decided to go for option number 1 from the list above. They were Rota Grid alloys in 18 inch however at the time they were out of stock everywhere. I tried several companies and no one could get them in or let me know when they would be available. My wife was insisting I go for gold alloys as it’s a Subaru and a couple of other people suggested gold as well but I was struggling to find a set within budget. I found a set of alloys that I really liked. They were Fondmetal 9RR in 18 inch and they came in gloss gold. They are a lightweight alloy wheel and weigh 8.5kg each but they were double my budget. I decided to go with them as they were literally perfect. I ordered them with Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s on and waited like a kid at Christmas for them to arrive. They look like they were made for a Subaru.

They look superb, very similar to the OZ Super Leggera's which always look great on the Impreza - and the gunmetal goes really well with the cherry red. I'd love a set of BBS CH for mine but I ain't spending any more money on wheels given how many sets I already have for it!

A couple more pictures.
The wheels arrived and one more of the grill from the bodyshop.
