56k Icon My car of the day, Suzuki Swift Sport Katana.

Suzuki, who make both cars and motorcycles have combined both worlds to produce a special edition Katana hot hatch. The Katana name is of the companies most iconic motorcycle that was launched in 1981 and it made a comeback in 2018. Only 30 units will be built and 15 will be in premium Silver matalic and 15 in super Black Pearl. There are identification marks which are a bonnet strip, door graphics and the Katana symbol on the front doors and serialized number on the C-pillars. Other exterior details are red accents surrounding the grille, Black mirror caps, Black OZ 18 inch wheels and Grey bumper trims and side skirts with a carbon fibre look. Small changes inside are a new thicker sports steering wheel with a Katana badge and part leather seats with embroided Katana lettering and serial number. Apart from the looks, Suzuki have lowered the suspension, added a strut bar and upgraded the exhaust system. Unfortunately this limited run Suzuki will only be available in Holland for some unknown reason.

The car looks good but the name? Nah, it's not a Katana!

As a Suzuki fan, and a swift advocate, these “limited edition” models they put out are woeful. Nothing is ever a big change, more power, different interior etc. It’s all just what’s laying about from other models.
The swifts predecessor, aka ZC32S or AZG416 (the correct model number) had an SZR version launched. It had the option gear knob circa £100 and a **/100 run number on the b pillar.
The most noticeable thing about the car was it’s red roof and mirrors whilst the rest of the car was black. Why? Because the red was discontinued because it was pretty much pink and not selling so they painted the bottom half black. Slapped £500 on the rrp and called it an R.

Stuff like this really devalues the concept of a “limited” or “special” edition.
