Gtechniq Gtechniq was founded by quantum physicist Drew Gill in 2001, out of a total dissatisfaction with the performance of paint protection products at the time. Everything from waxes, to new-fangled polymers and PTFE based miracle treatments, nothing on the market offered any meaningful durability, either in looks, or protection. Worse still, he found that most of the products actually performed poorer than the paints they were supposed to protect. From this discontent came a simple idea, ‘To engineer the world’s most beautiful, perfectly finished, smartest and most intelligent surfaces. Surfaces that do much more than simply look great when new.’

Hey all. Been lurking for a while.

If my car has been Exo'd by a professional detailer (as opposed to a rank amateur like me), what should be my routine for washing it? I've got W4 Citrus Foam, G-Wash, W6, W7, W8, P1 Nanopolish, C2V3 and QD.

I was thinking pre-wash, Gwash, W6/7/8 as necessary, but then I am stuck. Do I use P1 on the paint and then the C2V3 or just the C2V3? Anything after?

For wheels I have C5 Wheel Armour and for glass I have G4 and G6.

My car is new but has done 700 miles since the first wash and Exo protection, so could do with a little spritz to make it shiny again, but does not need a protection stage.

I gather panel wipe is a good option prior to the P1 or C2V3, so may get some of that too.

All advice welcome.

Thanks.

EDIT: I have found out that EXO should be fine as the outer layer for 18 months or so. I will use snow-foam and 2BM to maintain, with QD/C2 if necessary. I will use W6-8 where necessary too. Thanks.

That said, what do people apply T1 with? Are applicator pads OK or is it better to use a cloth?

Yes is the answer. I've used it on my suede seats and works a treat. Just use it as you would with other fabrics.

I use foam pad of the £1.00 for 12 ebay variety, no issue at all, use for a few applications.

So I'm about to apply my first real coating and opted for the CSL + EXOv3 but have a few questions before jumping in to it. I have watched and read a couple of application instructions but still have a few things I need to clear out.

How long is the curing time of the CSL exactly?
reason I want to know is that I would imagine this will determine how many MFs I use and if the curing time is very short I suppose I need a new MF for every other panel to make sure i don't put something hardened/crystalized on the paint, not to mention the suede cloths I plan on using, will these need to be replaced after each panel?

IE, should I assume to get 8 (folded) wipes out of each MF and 2 uses of each suede cloth?

Also, how does the product bond to paint that has heavy paint chips or road rash?

My detailer seems to have applied the CSL + EXO v3 in direct sunshine. Now to be fair, they still seem to have done a good job, reduced drying time and it came out spotless. The hydrophobic properties of the coating are there. However, is this application likely to reduce the longetivity?
