Kind of Unhappy!

Bought some of the Meguiars quick detailing clay, used it on a coulpe of spots on my car that i thought required the treatment. Sprayed on the quick detailer as shown, rubbed the clay over, all seemed well!

looked at my car today after the frost had gone, seems the clay has left streak type marks in all the places i used it! One lot seem quite bad, so i tried to polise them away with Auto Glym Super Resin polish, No joy!

Now that area is the same with extra swirl marks!

Anyone offer any advice apart from dont ever touch my car again cos im a stupid newbie idiot????

firstly hi and welcome, next did you wash the car before claying ??, then did you wash the car after claying, its not unusual to cause marks with clay but these should be removed with a bit of polishing, ps how did you apply the polish ? and what did you use to apply it and remove it ?

ps by streaks do you mean scratches ?

Washed it first but didnt wash it after as i spent so long on it the first time. Ha,ha.

Used the Auto Glym polishing cloths. I do hope they arent scratches else i'll be looking for someont to do a PC job in the Cambridge area! Brazo from this site has just done a car like mine but he's too far away.

In St Neots 20 west of Cambridge! Know any good PC'ers near me??

I was a bit mean with the sray as i was tryin not to be wasteful. Was this my mistake? I did it mid afternoon when the sun was out so it wasnt too cold! Just gutted about the marks, i've only had the car 5 weeks and it already looked like it had some swirls caused by the dealer and some possible bird poo marks too! Only problem is, 5 weeks down the line is too long to take it back to them to complain! They'll just blame me.

I'd give it another wash to remove any residual clay then take another look. I'm happy to offer a pc in the Cambridge area, but I'd like to get some practice in before touching someone elses car!

you probably didnt use enough spray, you gotta keep it moist or it does leave marks, possibly you havnt scratched it, it may just be clay residue, i would ditch the ag cloth though and get someproper applicators and some decent micfofibre cloths
