just my 2c... I have detailed many VAG cars recently with a DA and LC 6.5" orange pads and various Menzerna products, all with great success...

Yeah sure it is a little slower with the bigger 6.5" pads, but they can still get the job done

I prefere Menzerna wool pad over the 3M pad, if we are talking about the small ones, not the big 8" twisted wool pads from 3M.

How extreme cut are these? Are they as scary as they sound? Via rotary...

Purple wool, Menzerna wool, 3M wool are all fine and are not extreme in cut. They are, IMHO, safer and more forgiving to use then a foam compounding pad; they are running much cooler then foam pads.

Wool is and should be everyone's best friend . With the right polish combo even soft paint can be corrected with wool and a rotary . Just do not stay flat or over tilt 5 degree angle is all you need if someone has been mistakenly intimidated against wool . Especially with the choices "porta" has suggested .

So a purple LC wool pad using megs #101/5 is less cut than a chemical guys orange, or yellow using the same polish and rotary?
