Gtechniq Gtechniq was founded by quantum physicist Drew Gill in 2001, out of a total dissatisfaction with the performance of paint protection products at the time. Everything from waxes, to new-fangled polymers and PTFE based miracle treatments, nothing on the market offered any meaningful durability, either in looks, or protection. Worse still, he found that most of the products actually performed poorer than the paints they were supposed to protect. From this discontent came a simple idea, ‘To engineer the world’s most beautiful, perfectly finished, smartest and most intelligent surfaces. Surfaces that do much more than simply look great when new.’

I never cease to be impressed with Gtechniq P1

Neighbours friend wanted his car doing.
Now in the past it's been silver or red cars, but this time I said yes and he brought me round a 2007 Lexus RX400h with appalling paint, especially on the passenger side, the whole side looked dull, as did the rest of the car but more so the passenger side and had large flat spots dotted up and down, some two dozen, which just stood out like strobing beacons.
I thought I'd bitten off more than I could choose this time but thought why not, sure it'll take some time but I said I would so lets go.
Told him to bring it back the following weekend and I'd get as much done as I could of the Saturday and finish on the Sunday if needed.

The car before.

50/50 hand polishing with Gtechniq P1 after a few minutes.

Then once I stopped playing and really got stuck in. I managed to get the whole car done in less than six hours. Washed, hand polished, vacuumed and sealed.

Chromed polished with Gtechniq M1

Black is one of those infuriating colours to do by hand.
And it just seems that once quite premium cars are the least well looked after by previous owners, especially black ones.

Great job. Love P1 myself. I'm not sure from your write-up, if this was done by hand or machine?

Ye', sorry, (I'll change it now) hand polished. I couldn't find my tri-foam pad but used a folded over microfibre.
