Exterior (edit: and interior) detail on my BMW 440i
Wanted to do this for a while but didn't have the time until being forced to "work from home"
![]() Only second time I have a go at detailing Product lineup: ![]() Step 1 was a clean with my portable jet wash. Snow foam from Dirtbusters and then manual wash with Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds ![]() ![]() Megs clay bar & Quick Detailer: ![]() Quick wash/dry and then onto the polishing The paint wasn't particularly bad, and swirls are hardly noticeable on white. However, some scratches here and there and swirls definitely present: ![]() Taken before the wash: ![]() In any case, I hated the idea of putting a long lasting wax such as Fusso on top of paint with swirls and scratches. Using a DAS-6, I got the Poorboy's SSR2.5. Used it with a Lake Country green pad Next I gave it a round of SRP - probably not necessary as I seem to have removed most swirls and scratches, but just in case...Hex Logic blue pad for this purpose: Finished the paintwork with Fusso Soft99 - using it very sparingly and it's easy to buff off ![]() Moving onto the engine bay with Sonax Engine & Cold Cleaner - easy job and now ready for the AP intake ![]() ![]() ![]() Finished the wheels tonight (yes, rusty brake disks, I don't drive enough). Jet wash and dry followed by Magma - thought they were pretty clean but looked like the wheels were bleeding - very satisfying: ![]() Next, onto AG Custom Wheel Cleaner kit using the brushes supplied: ![]() Couldn't get my fingers dirty anywhere on the outer to middle part of the rims so assumed I could move on to GTechniq C5 wheel armour. Pretty easy to apply and buff, but I was surprised how dirty the cotton pads got - obviously didn't get all the dirt off. In any case, happy with the result! ![]() ![]() Good fun doing this. Interior should be very quick as it's in near mint condition. Waiting for my Dr. Leather wipes. Bonnet reflection ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by winther; 26-05-2020 at 11:31 PM. |
