Compressed air (in a can)

So I've had this can of CRC Dust Off compressed air laying around and I thought I'd give it a try as a drying aid two days ago. Not for the whole car, but just the awkward areas that you can't get to with a towel, like around the grill, in between the cracks around the side mirrors where they fold in etc.

I started spraying some in the mirror cracks and noticed pretty much instantly that it left a pretty thick layer of white, almost foam-like, residue where I sprayed (please, hold the dirty jokes). I tried again, but this time on a more visible surface to be able to see it better, and same thing again. When it dried it went from white to sort of hazy/blurry residue but it was very visible. I had to wipe if off with some detail spray to get it looking good.

Isn't this type of compressed air supposed to be safe and leave no residue? I'm sure I've read about people using it here on DW before.

PS: There is no residue visible or noticeable by feel when I spray it on other things.
