You need to keep in mind that a leaf blower that can also be used as a vacuum may collect bits of debris and dust in areas which can easily be released onto the car when in blow mode even if using different tubes.

One of mine, a B&D, regularly collects muck and soil around the fins. It has a different blow tube but it still blows into the same outlet where the collection bag would attach and can release all that muck at any time.

So I would say in answer to your question, it very much depends on what you have and what you use it for.
Yeah I've got an older electric garden vacuum and fully agree the fins are covered in junk. For the car I use a rechargeable ryobi blower (blower only)

It just makes me wonder if when using a blower that, unless you are using it from roof to mid door level, you are going to blow dirt from the ground on to the car.
I have a Metrovac Sidekick bought for car use but to be honest it hardly ever gets used on the car, maybe because it's stored round the back of the house in the cellar. I use it very often to blow dry the bikes after washing and all sorts of other cleaning/drying jobs - except the dog who is not so keen!
Yeah I primarily use it just for, the rear number plate, door mirrors and front grilles (all the arkward bits) always blowing in a slightly downward angle.

Generally the floor below the car would be wet after a wash so I doubt that you'd blow much back off the floor by accident mate.
