Morning all, I started to get into detailing about 2 years ago and no I’m no pro I just do it to my cars and maybe some of the family’s. Anyways the brand I have been using for the last 18 months or so it seems there products ain’t as good as they used to be so I’m looking for something else. Can help tell me another good ones to go to before I just go back to the good old trusted meguiars

Hi Rory,

Try some of the lesser known brands, ones made in the UK by local guy's.

Have a look about as there's a good few small businesses in England that make good products.

Check out "Paul Dolden Details" on YouTube for some reviews.

The small business guy's will appreciate your business at this time bud.

Cheers,

Ross

Half the fun of this hobby for me is the research. Jot down the products you want to complete a full detail shampoo, foam, apc, wax, qd etc etc and then read up on here and you tube what is considered the best. Take into account your circumstances do you detail in full sunlight or shade for example and make your choices based on that. Replace the meg products you are lowest on first perhaps and if funds allow don't buy bulk volumes so you can enjoy the whole process again sooner.

You can find Sams Detailing on here in the manufacturers section.

The best part of this is the trial and error and testing what works best for you. My favourite three products are Tardis, Korrosol, auto foam and Car shampoo which are from three different brands Autosmart (Tardis), Bilt Hamber (Korrosol & Auto Foam) and Adams USA (Car Shampoo).

Welcome, As echoed above, half the fun is having different bits for certain tasks from different manufacturers. I always told myself that I would let one run out before I tried another similar product. Well that went out the window years ago, so be careful.Control the urge and try not to buy every single new product that gets released.Otherwise you will end up like me ,with a garage full of products that you will never in your lifetime ever get through and a crying bank manager (wife) !!....but (silver lining), you will have a spotless car and a smile on your face.. Enjoy.

Meanwhile in Cheapville.....

Nowt wrong with some of the High Street stuff. TurtleWax had everyone moist around here in the recent past. Both the Hydrophobic Wax and the Dry and Shine.

Their Wax it Wet product is also very good. Plus they have their Cermaics coming on stream recently, so that will renew everyone's love for them

Halfords own brand stuff isn't bad, thinking about the Upholstery Cleaner and Wash and Wax for a quick mid week wash.

Simoniz Quickshine Detailer... that's on offer for under 3 quid sometime in Wilkinsons and is a very good drying aid or window cleaner (not windscreen)

You get the idea...
