Hi

I only use Koch Chemie so it would have to be one of those to start to polish

But I am a n00b when it comes to polish can anyone guide me in the right direction I am a little scared "Screw the paint up" I have nothing to polish I can get some scrap metal and test on that.

Like what machine I need or pads I could chatGPT It but I am sure there is someone here that could help lol

EXAMPLE

I have a brand new mini in icy sunshine blue the roof is BLACK and the paint is blue say the dealership put swirl marks on the roof and I Wanted to refine it or get rid of it or say the paint had some swirls in it what

A: Machine would I Need?
B: What compound from Koch Chemie would I need to use

I haven't used Koch Chemie polishes myself but really like Koch Chemie products and looking at getting their polishes and pads. From my research M3.02 and the recommended pad will be good for light swirls and F6.01 and recommended pad will be good for deeper scratches and swirls.
The das6 or das6 pro are good entry dual action polishers.

best advice i can offer
take yourself to a breakers yard (or ebay) and get a spare/scrap panel , with curves,
learn on that rather than Your car,
Dont over think things
Start "light cut compound/light cut pad" rather than dive in with heavy cut compound / heavy cut pad ,,
Thank you Andy I will try this can you go "wrong" on a light cut and a light pad or what is the WORSE you could do with this lol. Thank you very much for the support I appreciate it ill just get some painted pannel and put light scratches then deep scratches then scuff it all up and then put 3M tape down the middle to compare and trial and error lol

I think you're best off contacting a detailing product supplier like clean your car and let them talk you through it. Otherwise you'll be taking in a lot of info with lots of different recommendations that'll probably just fry your brain.

What mpg would your canoe get if it was pink? Too many variables, type of paint, age and condition, type of machine and power, pad and polish combination, pressure applied, speed settings and length of time polish worked, ambient temperature and so on and so on. There are infinite combinations so the only way to start is to establish a baseline and work from there. Choose a cutting pad and a finishing pad, choose a cutting polish and a finishing polish, then stick with them until you can predict the results, you can still vary those results by changing other variables like speed and pressure but that's all in the learning curve. Get a basic DA and you'll have to try very hard to do any damage so have at it.

The best advice is always start with the least aggressive option then step it up and always check your work.

If you really need a recommendation from the Koch line, then M3.02 and the matching Purple pad will give you less trouble than the other options. It has a very light cut and a very high polish, and should improve your paint without removing any measurable clear coat. I use M3.02 with a Lake Country SDO Black pad often on my test panels to remove waxes and shine up the panel. I’d trust that combo on anything. Whether it will correct enough defects for you is something only you can answer. I hope that helps.

you do always want to start with the least aggressive, you only have so much paint/clear, I would pick up M3 and F6, or maybe a starter pack if they do one with H9 in there too, my heavy cut compounds rarely get used but when you need em, you need em, your car is brand new so its very unlikely you would need anything like H9 yet, M3 and F6 should do enough
