I’m looking to replace my old fluorescent lights with led strip lights. I was wondering if there are benefits of having colder or warmer lighting for detailing purposes?

Definitely go for daylight LEDS, not cool or warm. Warm is too yellow, and compared to daylight, cool looks yellow. Daylight are just like working outside, the most natural light you’ll get for detailing. I’ve got daylight panel LEDS in my garage and at the end where the door lifts up, there’s little space for lighting and I had to buy some very thin LED fittings which, at the time, were only available in cool. The difference between the two is black and white.

4500k for me, that's daylight

2500k is to warm and yellow

6500k is to white

I would recommend tunable lights, for example ive replaced all my spot lights with these

They can be changed from 2500k to 6500k via alex or an app so for normal use It comes on to 4500k at 100% but let's say im watching a movie I can change it to 2500k and dim it, this makes for a cosier atmosphere, but for detailing this would allow you to view your work under different lighting temperatures thus spotting defects you may not have spotted with just the one colour temperature
