Unless you have a very well lit area then I'd forget it. You need as much light as you can to get the best results from polishing. Standard garage lights don't tend to be enough I recon as there are always dark spots from where the light can't get around the area of the car you need.

It would be outside as our garage isn't big enough, I would use a flood light so a nice amount of light, and not do whole carr at once, I would do sections at a time

What you might think looks great in the dark is likely to look very different in bright daylight. You'll only end up going over your work again in the daytime. It's up to you of course but I would wait until you can do the job during the day.

There's also the possibility of upsetting the neighbours by machine polishing at night.

I know because I've been there and done it. Silly idea it was too :D
