I have one tyre that needs replacing and one with 6mm left, should i replace both? will having different tread depths affect the handling or breaking? its on rear of car.

Can you not swap the 6mm one for the spare if you have one and use spare that way?

It is recommended to have the same.

Just change the one and match it with the one on the same axle

New tyres are I believe 7mm tread so you'd hardly notice if you just replaced one.

Usually 8mm when new but as above should be fine.
