as in the title, i noticed yesterday i lost a bit of turbo after sitting my car on idle for 15 mins waiting for the mrs to finish work. Ive read that the valve might be stuck open sending hot air into the intake or turbo.

Why would blocking this make things ok? and can this affect mpg?

thanks

I blocked mine off and also had it written out via a remap and for me mpg has not changed but the engine is more responsive and runs smoother. I blanked mine off early srping this year and so far I havent had any problems and I am currently in Devon with my Caravan where I used half atank of fuel to get here from Cheshire so I am more than happy with that. I have also noticed that I no longer get any delay from pulling away from a standstill which is a common Vectra C Deisel problem. I have heard stories of blanking EGR's can cause premature Turbo failure and hot running but again I have no issues and the temp guage stays where it always has once hot and that is in the middle.

I blanked mine off but have a 5mm hole in the blank.
Had it in for around 2 months but started to get annoyed by the management and emissions lights on so I took it out.
I noticed slightly better MPG and the turbo spooled faster.

After taking it out I have a massive flat spot around 1800rpm so I'm putting it back in with an 8mm hole.

I blanked mine out on my a4 tdi.
Left it in circuit after stripping and cleaning everything but blanked the (now removed) recirculating pipe so no dirty exhaust gasses entered the intake and blanked the vac pipe so the butterfly didnt move. Run sweet as but dont remember any positive effects on mpg over what it should have been.
