hi guys looking for some opinions on some ceramics for a guy that has not applied one yet.
i was thinking of these 3.
1 gtechniq CSL
2 carpro cquartz classic
3 kamikazie miyabi
ill be applying 1 of these after a :buffer: on a tango orange lotus , haven't got access to a unit so will be applied outside providing the weather holds out.
what are the pros and cons of these 3 ceramics? what is user experience like for each?
thanks in advance

CarPro CQUK 3.0 if you can expand your list to 4.

It's quite forgiving - you can leave it 30 seconds to a few minutes and is still fairly easy to remove. It's a good coating, really nice gloss and easily maintained with CarPro Reload silica spray sealant every 3 months or so. Wouldn't recommend Gtechniq CSL as a ceramic coating for a first timer IMO.

I have not used a kamikaze coating but CSL and Cquartz Classic are both user friendly for a first timer. I would also toss in Cquartz UK 3.0 into the mix. Classic is tiny bit easier to use. Both cquartz products are great.

CSL is a good coating. It does lack in the hydrophobic aspect compared to either version of cquartz. Meaning the beading aspect if you like to see tight water beading. I find CSL to be more sheeting with ok beading.

If you are not ready to apply a full two year coating then you have the option of a coating lite type product such as cquartz lite or gyeon cancoat. The offer the coating like characteristics but lack in longevity (about 1 year).

Having used all 3, albeit CQuartz 2 years ago, I'd go with 2 layers of Kami Miyabi maintained with Overcoat on occasion. In my experience it'll give you the easiest application and the best water behavior and self cleaning characteristics. A lot of it is personal preference though, so opinions vary.

If you wanna go the Cquartz route, I'd move to Cquartz UK 3.0 and if you want a little better feel, water behavior and slickness, top with a layer of Gliss V2. It has very nice beads if you're into that kinda thing.

CSL is a nice, durable coating, easy to apply by on it's own the water behavior really isn't that visually entertaining. Have done CSL topped with C2V3 and it was a self-cleaning nightmare until the C2V3 wore off. Can up that part of the equation significantly by adding a layer of EXOV4 on top of the CSL but from what I've experienced with that combo, the water behavior will still lag behind Kamikaze.

I'd pick Cquartz UK 3.0 w/ Gliss V2 over the Gtechniq stuff if you narrow it down to a choice between those 2 but Kamikaze would still be my top pick.

All are very good choices, all perform well and usually the differences are so small to be nearly irrelevant unless you really get down to specifics. You'll likely be pleased with whatever you go with.

I've kept all my notes on this stuff at the link below if so interested: https://budgetplan1.wordpress.com/glass-quartz-ceramic-coatings/

Personally id never apply a coating unless the car was indoors, ive driven my previous car the same day as it had a sacrafical spray sealant applied on top - siramik sc15 with sc mist to protect whilst it cured. Sc15 was protecting like day one still well over a year later with only normal washing, none of this 'top up' nonsense. But the car was indoors for application. Whether the coatings easy to use or not, id not chance out door application

I used CarPro UK 3.0

Did it outside without issue and looks great. Easy to use wipe on wipe off and Craig at CarPro is great for advice and help. Gonna top up soon with CarPro Glissto add some more gloss and hopefully stop some of this 'Sahara' rain dust sticking to the car.

Never applied a coating before but wouldn't hesitate again. Had Siramik Ultima and HR on my last car applied by a detailer and personally I think the CarPro is better and longevity and protection is exceeding the Siramik but at the end of the day its all your choice :thumb::thumb:

I'm another who will quite happily apply a coating outdoors, however I wait until the BBC Weather website shows near perfect conditions (dry for 24 hours, wind speed below 10 mph (this is usually lower earlier in the day, so you can't get up late) temps of low to mid double figures, no trees nearby that may be dropping debris).

I'm very tempted to buy a pop-up gazebo though as I have a large drive but only a single sized garage (which is full of bikes and lawn mowers etc.), for example... https://www.garden-camping.com/airwaver-original-3-x-4-5m-cream-waterproof-pop-up-gazebo.html

thanks for the replys guys. i was going to pick a good weekend weather wise to do the application. i have the use of a car port on the weekend of the job but its not fully inclosed . i was also thinking of either carpro or kamikazie but not yet made my mind up as both are good products. with reguards to the carpro do you need to use the suede cloth to remove or will the kirkland micros be ok?

You use the suede cloth to apply the coating, if you have the block as well it has slits in it that push the suede cloth in to keep it tight (I used a bank card), then use one microfibre to level (gather up) excess coating and another to buff it to a shine. Then when finished bin the cloths.
