I've had my PXE for several months and I use it everyday.

After about 10mins of use keeps shutting off and all 4 lights flash for several seconds before allowing be to use again until it happens again soon after.
The polisher does get hot. 2.5ah battery lasts 10-15mins.
It's a great polisher but seems it shuts down when it got, there is no mention of this in the manual or online.

I'm using the APS adapter and mostly use the 100mm cartec pads.
Used for polishing smart paint repairs.

I have a XCE125 forced orbit also and that basically doesn't offer enough cut for removing wetsanding marks even when refined.to p3000 on a da. It's excellent for fine finish polishing and swirl removal.
Might have to get the bigger rotary polisher me thinks.

I'm using the APS system which ads the correct backing plate for 100mm pads so I can use most small polish pads. The APS is well worth it.

The manual does say 10-20mins battery use. I will squeeze 20mins if light handed and slowest speed but it shuts off after 10mins.

Cleaned it all out, blew air through it etc but it does get warm and I don't block the exhaust part.

It sounds like you are working it hard. All electrical/battery powered tools have a safety thermal cut out, its a small glass tube with a contact blade inside. If the tool gets hot it trips out, the metal blade springs across the break the contact, and the contact will only connect again once cooled down. If you are pressing down whilst using, it will cut out. Any power tool must be left to work at its speed without putting it under extreme load.

This makes no sense. I have the makita equivalent of the XCE and it's more than man enough with the right pad/compound combo even with a smaller throw on the orbit vs the XCE.

RE the cartec pads, their site says the 100mm pads fit the flex Flex PXE80/rupes LHR75 etc so the backing is only 80mm and they taper out to 100mm.

Yer, if I wet sand the repairs I do and refine down to 3000grit. It's takes 4 times longer to cut than rotary. It's so annoying.
Cartec pads and 3000 polish. I have tried my ost polishes and none cut as well as cartec in my opinion, just disappointed it takes ages to cut, and it eats pads. Destroys them with a couple of weeks. 3 jobs a day. It does refine very well though.

the backing plate size in the kit doesn't allow the larger size to be used as a rotary if thats how you are using it, pretty sure the backing plate for orbital only is 75mm without me digging it out and looking, i also have the aps accessories which bypasses the way the tool doesnt allow the larger size backing plate to be used rotary.
100mm way too large for the power of the tool regardless of what cartec may suggest.
rupes lhr75 which is mains powered would probably be ok
