Hope this is in the right section?.
Last year In June (2015)I was on a driving holiday with my mate in our cars. Came home today to a letter in German/Austrian saying I had been caught speeding & needed to pay 30 euros.
Letter was from Austria & written in Austrian I think but managed to get the drift, any idea if I should pay & would there be any legal follow up when I go back to Austria this year if I don't pay?. Don't have the car I was supposed to be driving anymore & after 9 months can the claim still be legal please?.
Any help gratefully appreciated.:)

Yes the claims stand, and will for at least 5 year.
You can expect to be arrested and after payingnthe now increased fine, be put over the border (or on the next plane back) as a persona non grata.
Germany, Austria and Swiss do not take lightly if you ignore their (very reasonable) fines.

Many tourist have been surprised with this.
( similair is for the Netherlands with any kind of fine)

Its the same in euroland, I was a driver for many years across Europe, the fines are payable there and then, you can appeal them to the court later but if you don't pay your vehicle isn't going anywhere are you are in the cells, and the fines are super hefty, some running into thousands of euros.

Glad you paid fella, saves a load of hassle :thumb:
