I applied a few coats of Opti seal to freshly prepped paintwork about 2 months or so ago now, gave it 24hours to cure fully then applied a couple of coats of Zymol concours over the top and it appears to have gone milky now.

This may just be a Opti Seal x Zymol trait, other waxes may not react in the same way.

Opti seal was one of those products I just had to give a whirl and while I've been reasonably impressed with it I'll just be sticking to wax only from now on.

 

no way of knowing what happens to OS underneath, or any other base layer for that matter... If its properly cured then it will likely have some/all removed by a high solvent product like 915, combined with the rubbing action of application and buffing, but it hardly matters.

Used OS over and under loads and never seen cloudiness. I'd suggest thats an issue with the application conditions or something at the time you waxed. Wont be OS as its a cured layer of sealant and hardly like to change because a wax went on top of it

I can tell you that if the wife decides on changing her car this weekend to a CR-V, it will be OS'd rather than waxed. It used to take 5 minutes to do our old one and an absolute age to wax it. Cant beat the speed and ease of these types of products :thumb:

 

Try Optimum Car Wax over OS. Works extremely well.

 

Nattys red went over optiseal just fine for me. Probably depends on the wax you're topping it with.

 

Most 'true waxes' will go over OS fine as long as it's cured. By 'true waxes' I mean NO hybrid's with sealants in eg. 915/476/FK1000P etc.. as the solvents in these will just eat away at the OS and you'll have just ended up wasting the time doing OS.

I would like to ask the OP what color paint do you have on your car? i just want to share my experience with OS. I know nothing about OS. Heard it was a good sealant so I gave it a try. I was thinking to top OS with a carnuba wax so it could give it a good glow like everyone would. Like anybody would do. Clay and prep the paint, as I prepped it with KAIO. Afterwards I putted 2 coats of OS. First coat all around the car and second coat the following. Got lazy and tired after hours of claying. Decided to stop and top a wax on tomorrow. Tomorrow morning woke up brought the car out of the garage and WOWSERS! It's UNBELIEVABLELY WET! So I decided to not top it off with a wax. And at night it gives the car the most Brilliant Shine glassy and hard candy look that I've been lurking for. So I'm really happy with OS. I might top it off with Poorboy's Black Hole Glaze + Natty's Blue within a month to compare the looks. And that's it. Thanks for reading.
