Williams ceramic coating

I’ve just purchased a car and the garage have agreed to apply a Williams ceramic coating to the car. I’ve read that it’s down to prep as to how long it will last, etc. I’m fine with that as it’s being done free, if there’s ever such a thing.

Question I have is how do I maintain it. I’ve never had a ceramic coating in the past and probably wouldn’t have if there was a cost. I usually wax my cars but I don’t know if I should be using specific products with this on?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to DW

Enjoy your new motor...

Anything you put on top of it, has the potential to mask the coatings properties, but shouldn't remove it (unless polishing etc)... I'd ask the place thats applying it, see what they say and depending on this, could be a bit hit and miss over the product / how they've applied it...

I think this was on my old 308 GTi when i got it in 2016 and i'm fairly sure this is a ceramic in name only as i once mentioned how easy the paint scratched considering it had a ceramic coating on it.
I was told this particular coating only protects the paintwork from UV rays so it might not be quite what you are expecting and if they have applied it, they should be giving you an after care kit for it.

As a bit of an update on this.

I was sceptical after not finding a great deal of information about this particular ceramic coating.

It’s the only ceramic coating I’ve used so I don’t have any comparison other than to traditional polish/wax.

The shine isn’t really noticeable over before. But the main thing is the endurance. The car looks clean as not a lot sticks. Cleaning is a whole load easier, just a gentle wash and it’s done.

For maintenance I’ve just used ceramic sprays occasionally when drying.
